Virginia’s General Assembly gathers yearly and approves a budget and hundreds of bills across a wide range of topics. This session will explore how changes in state law affect the work of local and regional governments and how PDCs can become involved in the legislative process. A pair of veteran state lobbyists will provide some insights.
Session 3
Communications—Telling the PDC Story
Monday, September 9, 2024, 12:00 pm
Does your PDC have a communications strategy? Are you intentional about how you communicate with and to your various audiences? How can you “tell your story” better? Get some advice and guidance from the founder and CEO of Consociate Media.
All PDC staff can benefit from a high-level understanding of Virginia laws on public meetings and access to public records (the Freedom of Information Act, or FOIA). This session will provide the necessary nuts and bolts and look at situational examples to strengthen understanding.
